Grammar Games (Connect 4 and Dice Board Game)

Wanting to engage your early finishers with meaning and fun activities?  This fun package consists of numerous 4 In A Row and dice board games. Instructions are simple yet the fun is endless. The games are planned to assess pupils' understanding of nouns, verbs, past tense verbs, adverbs and adjectives. 
Pupils will work in pairs.  Distribute one question card and one task card per pair. 























Pupil A will select a letter from the question card and write the answers of the task in the corresponding square on the task card.  Pupil B will then have his turn to do the same.
The first pupil who manages to complete four squares in a row will submit the 4 x 4 task card to his teacher to verify his answers.  The first pupil who gets all the answers correct in a row wins.  Examples of some tasks are as follows :

Grade 3 - Solving Word Problems with Understanding (Part 2)


Finally, part 2 is here!  Understanding pupils' misconceptions is crucial for teaching to be effective.  
Instead of rushing to solve the problems, students should slow down and clarify their understanding, which means, be sure to know what is being asked, what you already know from the problem, and what you need to know in order to solve the question being asked.  



These worksheets can be done as a small group.  Encourage students to make use of mathematical language and translate their understanding into mathematical equations.
